Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback? I'm a paperback fan, mainly because I love worn, old books and I feel that happens with paperbacks. Sometimes, I get in the mood for a thick hardback to read though. Amazon or brick and mortar? Both. I love to browse independent stores, but can't beat those Amazon pre-order deals sometimes. Locally owned bookshop or big name chain store? I know I should say locally owned and I try to support local, but I'm more online or big chain. (Don't hate me.) Bookmark or dog-ear? Prefer bookmarks because they can be fun and pretty. Also, depending on the book, underlining and notetaking is not uncommon. And if I don't have a bookmark, I just flip the book over on the table and hope no one closes it. Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random? In a store? Author last name! Anything else makes me go crazy and I feel like I can't find anything. On my bookshelf? Sometimes it's color, sometimes it's category. Keep, throw away, or sell? Keep or give away, but not throw away or sell. Whenever I move, the one thing my parents don't look forward to is moving all my books. There are lots and lots and lots of them. When done with a book, I'll donate, pass on to a friend, or just keep it in my piling collection. Keep dust jacket or toss it? I'm in the middle on this. Sometimes, the actual cover of the book is GORGEOUS and I don't understand why there is a jacket. So, I'll remove and then put back on once done with the book. Other times, I keep it and use the covers as built-in bookmarks. Read with dust jacket or remove it? See above answer. Just depends on my mood. Short story or novel? Novels. Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)? Collections, I love essay type writings. Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? Chapter breaks. If I find that I've fallen asleep, whenever I wake up, I finish the chapter and then go back to sleep. “It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”? Dark and stormy. Also a good drink. ;) Buy or borrow? Buy. Because if I love it, I might not give it back. ha. New or used? Depends on the condition when used. I go to a library book sale each year and most are either library books (duh) or used books. Sometimes I enjoy reading the notes of other people or seeing what they underlined. Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse? Combo of browse and reviews. However, reviews don't always sway me, because I know there will always be some who just don't enjoy a book. And those people are more likely to leave a review...I feel like. Tidy ending or cliffhanger? Both, obviously not in the same book. But, I enjoy both. Morning, afternoon or nighttime reading? And all the times in between. Single volume or series? Single volume. I'm not big on series. It has to be realllyyy good. If there are like Land Before Time amounts of books in the series, I'm really not going to read it. Favorite series? Chronicles of Narnia is first. Little House on the Prairie. Hunger Games second. Lord of the Rings third. Those might be the only series I've read all of, that I enjoyed all of them. Favorite book of which nobody else has heard? This one is actually in a series and it's for children. I'm on a hunt to gather the whole series and it will probably get added to the list above once I read them all. It's from the author of The Hunger Games! I've only read book #1, but I love it. It's so fun. See what it is here! Favorite books read last year? Top three: this one, this one, and this one. Favorite books of all time? I can create a longer list, but I'll give you five of my most favorites (in no particular order): this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one. (Also, those are some good deals on those!) How would you answer these questions? Particularly, your favorite book nobody has heard of? I'm curious on these and want to create a whole list of just those books to read! Tell me your answers below or if you've done this before, leave the link. I'm always looking to add books to my always growing shelf.
