Yummy Banana Bread

Now, in no way is this blog going to magically turn into a food blog. I honestly don't cook that often (although I wish I did), I'm not a gourmet chef or baker (although I wish I was), and I tend to turn the kitchen into a mess whenever I do anything in there! However, lately I have been wanting to try baking and cooking more! After all, my sister got me an awesome slow cooker cook book and it needs to be used! There are some great recipes in that thing! Also, instead of just pinning away on this food board and this dessert board, I would really like to start making some of those desserts and things. So, here we are. Today I share with you a recipe! Enjoy!

I would honestly LOVE to take credit for this recipe and say that I came up with it all by myself. But, as stated earlier, I'm no gourmet chef or baker. I found this recipe via Pinterest when I went in search of something to do with those ripe bananas that didn't make it into green smoothies. I LOVE banana bread for a couple of reasons. One, it is yummy! Two, it is easy to make. (Need proof of this? I made it.) Three, you can easily make it your own by adding in anything you would like. Examples are nuts or chocolate chips. Neither of which I had, but if I did, they would both be in there! I did however add one secret ingredient. But, I'm not going to tell you what it is. That is what makes it a secret after all!

The recipe called for 4 ripe bananas, however I only had 3. So, my bread didn't turn out with a HUGE banana flavor, but you could still definitely taste the nanners!

One tip that I did learn was to mix your wet and dry ingredients separately first and then combine them! Also, the pin that I found this recipe said something about no mixer needed? Well, I just don't have arms of steel for that, so out came the hand mixer! Maybe they just meant one of those giant, legit KitchenAid mixers that everyone seems to have?

Another tip? That masher up there that we normally mash potatoes with? Works perfectly for mashing up bananas! I mixed my wet and dry ingredients (separately at first) together and then added the mashed bananas. After it was mixed consistently I poured the batter into a greased loaf pan. I baked it at 350 degrees for one hour. Some people say their oven bakes quickly and it didn't quite take an hour. However, my oven baked this perfectly at one hour! Just watch it, because you don't want it to burn!

Perfectly golden and so yummy! One of my favorite things about making a loaf of bread is watching the pattern on top form! That might be weird, but it just adds a uniqueness to the loaf! This recipe makes a very moist and fluffy bread. Make sure to let it cool enough before slicing and enjoying. This is the hard part, I know! Believe me, it's definitely worth it. This bread definitely did not last long in my house, seeing as I was having it for breakfast and dessert in the evenings. The parents definitely enjoyed it as well! That just means I will have to make another loaf very soon!

Last tip: want to have extra fun while making this recipe? Listen to Ellie Holcomb's album, As Sure As The Sun!

P.S. My secret ingredient was HONEY. :)
