Let's Get Physical

Did this video come into mind when you read the post title?
Uhm, that red-head at 3:14.
Or what about this rendition? GLEE fans anyone??
Oh, Jane Lynch.
Despite whatever "physical" they were singing about, I'm definitely talking about the physical as in fitness and nutrition. While I was living in California, I was doing really well on being active and eating healthy. It was much easier there, since everyone around you is pretty much a health and fitness nut. Plus, with a place like that, how could you not get outside and be active? I knew that coming home was going to be a challenge for me. In Tahoe, I got my workout in by hiking a mountain, going to waterfalls, kayaking, walking beside the lake, you know, doing things that I love and find enjoyable. Here in Alabama where I live, I can't easily do those things. It's much easier for me to just stay inside and sit.

I am by NO means a fitness guru or instructor, I'm still learning a lot myself! I'm educating myself on what is good or bad, what will help me and finding things I will like. As much as I wish that reading articles and repinning things on Pinterest counted as a workout and led to me getting healthy, it doesn't. I also need accountability. Here is where the new FITNESS tab above comes in.

What you will find on the FITNESS page:
  • Challenges -- Every month I am going to try and complete a challenge. Right now I'm doing three. It seems extreme, but really isn't.
  • My workout details -- Hopefully I will post these daily. Meaning hopefully I'm working out daily. I will post what workout I did that day, about the number of calories I burned and other random things. Like my workout music for that day, apps I've been using, etc.
  • Things I've been learning -- Some serious, some not. (Of course)
  • Check-Ins -- I will probably only do these about twice a month. Here's the thing, I hate the scale (show of hands, who feels the same). You know those people who say they have thrown out their scales? Well, that will probably end up being me at some point. Not because of frustration, but because I don't believe the scale fully reflects your progress. Although I may not see my number drop how I want it to, my energy, endurance, muscle, and effort changes. I genuinely feel better. But, for now, one of my goals is a number so the scale is staying.
  • Tips and Tricks -- These will either come from articles I've read, food recipes I've found, Pinterest, or you guys!

So, there it is. There is my FITNESS page. Hope you will stick around for the journey! I leave you with some of my goals.

  • To work out every day for at least 30-45 minutes.
  • To get stronger and push harder in my workouts.
  • To complete my July challenges!
  • To get healthy and bump up my nutrition.
  • To get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
  • Drink only water (no soda!).
  • To lose those next 5 lbs.
