Hello & Welcome!
Creating space for simply choosing Jesus.
About The Blog.
This is a faith-based blog that aims to create community, extend encouragement, and be a place for simply choosing (more on that later). The goal is to use words that speak truth, life, and love to the reader. And is written from a comfy couch or chair and runs off lots of coffee.
Simply Choosing What?
We are met with decisions each and every day. From what we want in our coffee, to the podcasts we listen to, who we date (or don’t), what food we eat, and who our friends are. Decisions to choose one thing over another meet us around every corner. Not all decisions are major, yet the biggest one we make each day, knowingly or not, is whether we choose Jesus or the world. Colossians calls us to set our “minds on things above, not on earthly things.” While there are many good things here on earth like coffee, sunrises, friends, and laughter, the best thing is found in the Creator of them. Our choice? Joy or despair? Courage or fear? Love or hate? Peace or anxiety? Grace or shame?
Jesus or the world? What will you simply choose?
Jesus or the world? What will you simply choose?
About Jess
I've loved to read for as long as I can imagine and remember writing silly poems on the long drives during family vacations. I've always had to have a creative outlet, whether drawing, photography, or writing. Silly poems turned into journals being filled and when I reached high school, MySpace held my first, true writings. I began my first blog in 2009 and a couple of different spaces later, here we are! I graduated from the University of Alabama, where I entered in as an English major, because it is what I was best at. I graduated in 2012, after three different major declarations, with a degree not in English. Yet writing has never left me and I hope to never leave it. Here is my space where I document life, try to be as honest as possible, and share what it means to simply choose Jesus each day.
Favorite Things
The University of Alabama My alma mater and home to one of the best football teams in all the land. Tuscaloosa will always feel like home.
Sunrises Although I truly love to sleep, sunrises are my favorite over sunsets. I'm a fan of new beginnings and we get this one every day.
Books The hardest thing to move, yet I will never stop collecting.
Netflix If Gilmore Girls ever gets taken off, I will be full of sadness. (FRIENDS also used to be listed here and we see what happened.)
Elephants Partially because of my alma mater, but more because they are just magnificent.
Coffee Usually always hot, preferably with not a lot stuff in it, wonderful from a pour-over or French Press.
